Youth conference comes to Barrow

POSTED: June 3, 2014 4:45 p.m.

A youth conference is coming to Barrow on Wednesday.

The "It Matters" youth conference, hosted by Family Connection and Communities In Schools of Barrow County, Inc., runs from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. June 4 at the Barrow County Leisure Services center.

The event is open to all middle and high school students, regardless of whether or not they live in the county.

The event will include two main speakers and a number of other discussions ranging from facts about STDs, HIV and AIDs to financial matters and from the problems associated with social media to self image.

The speakers are Yvonne Harvey-Williams – speaking about overcoming adversity through her own life experiences – and Joseph Grin – talking about his transition from being a drug addict and then prison inmate to being an inspirational speaker, actor and model.
