Apalachee High School wrestlers Josh Boler and Zak Moore have been chosen for the Georgia National Team.
After excellent showings at the High School State Tournament with a first-place finish, Josh Boler has stormed onto the Freestyle and Greco scene with perfection.
"Josh has won both of the tournaments he has entered including the National qualifieron May 10 at Apalachee High School. His skill, strength, and speed caught the eyes of the Team Georgia National coaches," said AHS Head Wrestling Coach Mark Moore.
"If Josh can come up with the $500 fee, he will be traveling to Oklahoma for the National Duals," said Moore.
Zak Moore, who placed fourth at State after suffering a concussion, has come alive with newfound determination to light up the Freestyle and Greco tournaments.
"Zak is undefeated with a 26-0 record, winning five tournaments," said Coach Moore. "He has defeated State placers and champions from Alabama, Tennessee and Georgia along the way. En route to winning the Apalachee tournament and qualifying for the National tournament, Zak defeated nationally-ranked T.J. Mitchell."
Zak Moore will be attending the National dual tournament, as well as the National individual championships in Fargo with his $1,200 fees covered by Dustin Kawa of The Wrestling Academy. Moore has trained with Dustin Kawa since Kawa was a college wrestler at the University of North Carolina. Zak now trains and coaches at The Wrestling Academy.
"You can see both of these young men attempting to stay perfect at Apalachee High School on May 17 in an open tournament," said Coach Moore.
Wrestling begins at 8 a.m. with admission of $3 per person, or $5 per family.
