Bethaney Murphy warmed up as she prepared to compete in Class AAAA State Track Meet in Albany. She would score points with a fourth-place finish - a personal best time

Winder-Barrow High School Sophomore Bethaney Murphy finished fourth in the 1600-meter run in the Class AAAA State Track Meet held in Albany.

Murphy had a time of 5:19:81, which is a personal best.

Head Girls Track and Field Coach Jennifer Blevins said, "Seniors Ebony Moore and Stephanie Rettig were so ready for the day's competition, but fell into a curse that hit several athletes."

According to Blevins, Moore scratched on all three throws in the discus.Had the throws been scored, they would have been outstanding marks.

Stephanie Rettig cleared 8 feet on the pole vault, Belvins reported from Albany.

In Class AAA, the Apalachee High School 4x400 team ran a time of 4:12.290.

"They ran close to their best time of the season but they did not qualify for the finals on Saturday," said Apalachee Girls and Boys Track Coach David Wagner.

The 4x400 team consists of Qualitte Bailey, Landy Jean, Ashley Andrews and Niki Warren.

In an individual race, Qualitte Bailey finished 10th in the 100-meter dash.
