Man arrested in connection with Statham area homicide
A Barrow County man was arrested Saturday morning and charged in connection with the stabbing death of an Athens man whose body was found Friday just before midnight in a ditch off Booth Road near Statham.

Since sixth grade, Jenkins has been working toward being named valedictorian or salutatorian (she will graduate as salutatorian this May). One title she never aimed for was the STAR award, but that didn’t keep Jenkins from receiving the honor last December.

Many mentors in Barrow County are school staff and administrators and community leaders, but each high school also takes groups of older students to mentor children at the elementary and middle school level.
