On Wednesday night, former Apalachee star Tyler Whatley finally got his chance to start for the University of Georgia basketball team.

It was also the team’s final game of the year at Stegeman Coliseum, against the No. 3-ranked Kentucky Wildcats.

Georgia lost, but Whatley was able to savor the experience with his family and Apalachee basketball coaches Kevin Morris and Dan Woschitz.

Morris, who is currently the Head Coach of the Wildcats, led Apalachee to back-to-back Class AA Final Fours in 2003 and 2004 with a lot of help from the 6-foot-7-inch forward.

Whatley signed with Wofford College after high school, playing three years for the Terriers.

He transferred to UGA befor the 2008-2009 season, which he had to sit out. The current season will be his only at UGA.
