On Nov. 3, Auburn police responded to a call made by a woman working in the pharmacy at the Ingle’s on Atlanta Hwy., in reference to a forged signature.
It was later discovered that Amanda Ash, 30, of Buford, was the one behind the unsuccessful scheme.
The pharmacist told police that a woman who claimed her name was Angela Scruggs, dropped off four prescriptions, two for Lortabs, one for Soma and one for Carispordol.
After verifying that the prescriptions were fake, the pharmacist called police. The pharmacist then called Ash and informed her that her prescriptions were ready to be picked up.
The employee called police to notify them of Ash’s arrival.
Two females with dark hair pulled up in a black car to the pharmacy drive-through-pick-up window, later identified as Angela Long and Amanda Ash.
Auburn Officer Benjamin Deutsch approached the vehicle and ordered the women to step out of the car.
Cpl. Lafreniere arrived shortly after and upon searching the vehicle and Ash’s purse, found a cellophane wrapper containing five Xanax pills.
Ash stated she had forgotten the pills were in her purse.
Both women were arrested and transported to the Auburn Police Department where further questioning occurred.
Ash was transported to the Barrow County Detention Center and charged with one count of Violation of Georgia Controlled Substance Act (VGCSA).
All items were entered into evidence.
