Preschoolers at the First United Methodist Church (FUMC) spent the last few weeks getting ready for their annual Thanksgiving feast, and what a feast it was.
On Nov. 12, the 4 year olds who attend FUMC daytime preschool, sat down to a table of 40 "pilgrims" and "Indians" while parents and relatives witnessed the event.
The 4 year olds made their own placemats, napkin holders, jewelry and painted their costumes for the feast.
"We do it every year," said Jennifer Sams, 4-year-old preschool teacher. "We’ve been doing this for more than 20 years ... I bet a lot of these parents had this feast when they were children," she said.
The children gobbled up chicken nuggets, "turkey toast" and their very own homemade pudding for dessert.
The Indians donned brightly-colored painted vests and necklaces while the pilgrim boys wore black hats and the girls, bonnets.
"As soon as Halloween was over we started getting ready for the feast," Sams said. "We have a pretty big class now, right at about 40 children."
