Auburn Police officers were dispatched to the residence in reference to a loud music complaint. On arrival, officers detected a strong odor of marijuana and following questioning, Jason Alan Armstrong, 30, and Ricky Lee Waldrip, 53, were arrested and charged with one count of Violation of the Georgia Controlled Substance Act (VGCSA).
Officer on the scene, James D. Boyd, asked if anyone had been smoking marijuana and that’s when Armstrong confessed and pulled out a partially smoked cigarette containing suspected marijuana from his right front pocket.
Sgt. Derek Ulrich proceeded to question the suspects at the residence and the woman whose name was on the lease of the residence, Dana, admitted that there was a small amount of marijuana hidden in the back bedroom.
Ulrich found a small amount of unsmoked marijuana in a clear plastic bag concealed inside a cigarette pack which was located under the sofa cushions.
Waldrip admitted that the drugs belonged to him and he and Armstrong were then transported and turned over to the Gwinnett Detention Center where another plastic bag containing a small amount of marijuana was discovered in Armstrong’s shoe.
