The Winder-Barrow boys and girls soccer teams each won their second region game Tuesday night at Rockdale County.
In the girls game it was senior captain Rebekah Autry who provided all of the necessary firepower, as she scored three first half goals.
Ashley Phan added a fourth goal for the Lady Doggs (2-1-1 Region 8-AAAA, 4-1-1 overall), and Clara Tapplin tallied an assist.
The boys team didn’t provide as much breathing room but left with a 2-1 win all the same.
Cesar Saucedo opened the scoring halfway through the first half, and Erik Bravo gave the Bulldoggs a two-goal advantage early in the second half.
Both goals were assisted by center midfielder Wilfredo Pineda.
Rockdale cut the lead to one on a goal ten minutes later, but the home team could not come up with an equalizer.
With the win the boys are 2-1 in the region and 2-3 overall.
“We played strong,” said boys Head Coach Levi Karas. “But we had a lot of chances that we didn’t capitalize on. We need to work on our finishing.”
On Friday both teams will be back to work when they host Cedar Shoals, girls starting at 6 p.m.
