Apalachee handed Winder-Barrow its first loss of the season Monday with an 8-6 Wildcat win.
At AHS, Aaron Trammell launched a three-run homerun in the third to put the Wildcats (4-3) ahead 5-3, and starting pitcher Corey Hoopaugh threw 4 1/3 innings for the win and Ryan Shorter relieved and shut the door on a late rally.
Dustin Dunagan took the loss for Winder-Barrow (7-1). The Bulldoggs rallied late in the game, as Taylor Hinshaw hit an RBI single in the seventh for the Doggs sixth run.
But with one out and the bases loaded, Shorter induced an infield fly and then struck out the final batter for the save.
Winder-Barrow catcher Max Pentecost contributed 2 RBI on the night, including a solo homerun, while Apalachee's Bubba McDaniel hit a two-run homerun and a double for three RBI.
