Winder-Barrow High School HOSA, Health Occupations Students of America, recently attended the State Leadership and Competitive Events Conference in Athens. The competitive events consist of written exams, oral competitions, healthcare skills and team events. Emily Wilkins won first place in the Sports Medicine event. The Creative Problem Solving Team of Sarah Gay, Abigail Rodriguez and Jessie Speight won second place in their event. Ernesto Thomas placed fourth in the Pharmacology Knowledge Test. Sarabeth Porter earned fifth place in the Extemporaneous Health Poster competition. Srujay Patel and Chackriya Som placed eighth in CPR/ First Aid. Students that earn first, second or third place at the state competition earn the privilege of representing Georgia at the HOSA National Competition in June in Orlando, Fla.
