A laptop and a case of Coke were reported missing from a New Street address that was burglarized Feb. 4. The back door was left unlocked and someone entered the home and took the items.

A man returning to his Dreamland Circle home for lunch Feb. 4 found someone had entered his home. Missing after the burglary was a laptop. Police have a possible suspect in the case.

An East Wright Street residence was likely to be the scene of another Feb. 4 burglary, however, when the suspect kicked open the door, he or she learned there were nine pit bulls inside. It did not appear that entry was made into the residence.

A Third Avenue resident called police after seeing two men standing around his lawn mower at 3 a.m. on Feb. 5. When he turned on an outside light, the two men ran away.

Timothy Ray Gunter of Winder was charged Feb. 4 with possession of a controlled substance and two counts of controlled substance not in original container after Officer Nick Bilik located the man inside a car at a closed business, which has been burglarized several times.

Yolanda Louise Hammond was taken into custody on a probation violation and a failure to appear citation from Pendergrass when officers were called to a May Street business on a Feb. 2 shoplifting call.

Although Hammond had several hundreds of dollars in cash in her possession, she was seen putting a $2.69 jar of cheddar dip down the back of her pants inside Kangaroo.

Although he agreed to stay inside his residence after a previous call on Feb. 2, officers had to return to another complaint of Travis Charles Motes, 48, of a North Broad Street address, yelling obscenities and displaying gestures to employees and patrons of a nearby business. He was charged with disorderly conduct and public drunkenness.

A Feb. 3 battery complaint from a Hill Street location is under investigation by Detective Tracy Wild. Reports indicate a woman opened a door at her brother-in-law’s house to find her husband in bed with another woman. The wife attacked the female and then left the scene.

The door of a Bellview Street apartment was kicked in, according to a Feb. 3 report. The back door was left ajar, likely so the suspect could return to the property.
