Man batters juvenile, shoots at cat in home

Barrow County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a DFCS call to a Creekview Drive residence.

Allegedly, a juvenile received a cat from a friend, and then the cat began to tear things up.

When the juvenile returned home, she happened upon Ralph Rusty Smith, who was attempting to grab the cat.

Smith admitted to grabbing the juvenile by the throat when she came in the room for the cat and that he then grabbed his rifle and went in her room and shot at the cat.

Smith was charged with two counts of battery (Family violence), cruelty to children in the first degree and discharge of a firearm near a highway.

A domestic dispute call resulted in the arrest of one woman.

April Poore allegedly became involved in a physical altercation with her boyfriend, and during the fight, Poore pushed and punched him.

Poore was arrested and charged with battery (family violence) and cruelty to children in the third degree, as a child was in the home during the time of the incident.

Deputies received a call that a juvenile had been struck with a frying pan by her mother.

Marlane Boyle was arrested and charged with battery and simple battery (family violence).

A 911 hang up call sent deputies to a Summer Field Road residence.

When they arrived, they found a woman crying, who asked that her husband be made to leave.

She told police that Eric Turner had hit, pushed and attempted to strangle her.

She stated he had pushed her and verbally abused her in front of their child.

Turner was arrested for aggravated assault (family violence), battery (family violence), simple battery (famiy violence), simple assault (family violence) and cruelty to children in the third degree.
