Feb. 9 business leaders breakfast to offer workplace solutions, says ACS

The American Cancer Society invites local business leaders of Barrow County to attend an informational breakfast on Tuesday, Feb. 9.

At the breakfast, the American Cancer Society will discuss various workplace solutions and how local businesses can benefit by joining ACS in the fight against cancer, said Victoria Patrick, Senior Community Manager for the American Cancer Society.

The breakfast is from 7:45-8:30 a.m. at The Peoples Bank Betty Jo Maddox Community Room, which is located across from the main branch of The Peoples Bank in downtown Winder.

Attendees are requested to RSVP to Victoria Patrick by Feb. 5 at victoria.patrick@cancer.org or by calling (706) 549-4893.

"We care about local businesses needs and are committed to finding solutions that will benefit businesses by raising awareness of cancer in the workplace, providing opportunities for team building among staff, and enhancing company’s leadership in the community," said Patrick.

Together with millions of supporters, the American Cancer Society saves lives and creates more birthdays by helping people stay well and get well, by finding cures, and by fighting back, said Patrick.

"To create more birthdays, the American Cancer Society offers a variety of workplace solutions that address business needs such as employee wellness, volunteerism and community leadership," said Patrick.

The American Cancer Society combines an unyielding passion with nearly a century of experience to save lives and end suffering from cancer, according to Patrick, and as a global grassroots force of more than three million volunteers, the Cancer Society fights for every birthday threatened by every cancer in every community.

"We save lives by helping people stay well by preventing cancer or detecting it early; helping people get well by being there for them during and after a cancer diagnosis; by finding cures through investment in groundbreaking discovery; and by fighting back by rallying lawmakers to pass laws to defeat cancer and by rallying communities worldwide to join the fight," said Patrick.

As the nation’s largest non-governmental investor in cancer research, contributing more than $3.4 billion, the American Cancer Society is turning what is known about cancer into what can be done about cancer.

As a result, more than 11 million people in America who have had cancer and countless more who have avoided it will be celebrating birthdays this year. To learn more, call any time, day or night, at 1-800-227-2345 or visit cancer.org.
