Southern States’ annual meeting is Feb. 9 in Winder

Southern States Cooperative will review its operations at a series of local annual meetings, including the upcoming meeting for members of Southern States Cooperative, Inc. – Winder and Gainesville Services.

"While Southern States had a record year in 2008, the challenges of ’09 have made it a tough but positive year, and one of good news," says President and CEO Thomas R. Scribner. Sales in fiscal year 2008 exceeded $2 billion for the first time ever and sales ending June 30, 2009 were just under $1.85 billion.

Southern States Cooperative, Inc. – Winder and Gainesville Services will hold their annual membership meeting on Tuesday, Feb. 9, at 541 Bankhead Highway, in Winder.

Membership day activities begin at 10 a.m. with the start of the meeting.

With the theme Will Your Customers Recommend You?, the Cooperative’s management will use the meeting to report on both local and company-wide operations, as well as projected budget results for next year.

Local board members will be elected, and retiring board members will be recognized.

Board nominees include: Winder Service – Calvin K. Cooper; and Gainesville Service – T. Larry Nix.

"The annual meeting is the best single opportunity to outline our plans for the future to our membership and discuss our progress in meeting our financial goals," notes Floyd Taylor and Danny Guess, managers of SSC, Inc. – Winder and Gainesville Services, respectively.
