The American Red Cross will conduct several blood drives before year’s end including blood drive donation opportunities on Monday.

Bethlehem United Methodist Church will host a Dec. 21 blood drive from 2-7 p.m. in the fellowship hall and Publix at Barrow Crossing in Bethlehem is hosting a Monday drive from 1-6 p.m.

On Tuesday, Dec. 22, the Winder-Barrow Brad Akins YMCA on Brad Akins Drive off Atlanta Highway in Winder is hosting a drive from 1-7 p.m.

On Tuesday, December 29, The Georgia Club Foundation will host a drive in Village Hall at The Georgia Club in Statham from 1-6 p.m.

Donation of blood and/or platelets is important during this season of giving. All blood types are needed.

The Athens Donor Center at 3525 Atlanta Highway in Athens is open six days a week for blood and platelet donors but is closed on Sundays and will be closed Christmas Day.

At the Athens Donor Center, presenting donors receive coupons from a local participating restaurant, including Chick-fil-a, Waffle House, Carrabba’s or Dos Palmas. Other donor prizes are also available through Jan. 2, 2010.

Blood donors can call 1-800-GIVE-LIFE to make an appointment. Platelet donors can call Linda Rounds at (706) 546-0681 extension 233 to make an appointment.
