Durwin Anthony Schofield, 41, of Winder, who was killed in the traffic accident investigated by the Georgia State Patrol, is believed to be the perpetrator in the Bethlehem robbery. He is also the suspect in the Sunday afternoon robbery of the Dollar General Store on Hwy. 138 in Monroe and in the Saturday evening robbery of the Dollar General store in Hoschton.A description of the suspect was released after the Dec. 16 robbery at the Dollar General in Bethlehem was released by the Barrow County Sheriff's Office.
The Bethlehem store, located off Highway 11 near the University Parkway, was apparently the first in a string of robberies in which the suspect entered and intimidated employees into giving him an undisclosed amount of cash. He indicated to some store employees that he had a weapon and did not not wish to harm anyone, but the Bethlehem employees nor others were shown a weapon.
The man appeared to leave on foot after taking an undisclosed amount of money from the Bethlehem location, according to Barrow County Sheriff’s Office Investigator Matt Guthas.
No one was injured during any of the robberies.
Dollar General employees have declined to discuss the incidents.
