Red-shirt senior Tyler Whatley issued in his first points as a Bulldog in grand style as he jammed home a two handed slam with 30 seconds left in the game and drawing a foul from Ashville's D.J. Cunningham. Whatley followed by making the free throw and giving Georgia a 79-55 lead.

Whatley had played three years at Wofford College before transferring to the University of Georgia last year. The NCAA required that he sit out last year but Tyler was able to practice every day with the team. Whatley was granted a scholarship by UGA head coach Mark Fox at the beginning of this season.

The Dawgs win over UNC-Ashville carries the Dawgs to 2-2 overall. The game found the Dawgs pressing a good bit in the early minutes which helped establish the lead. According to Fox the fans can expect more pressing from the Dawgs in the future.

Offensively Georgia had four players in double figures with Ricky McPhee leading the way with 20 pts., Travis Leslie 17, Trey Thompkins 16, and Albert Jackson with 10.

Georgia will host Jacksonville State this Friday in Stegeman Coliseum. Game time will be 7:00 pm.
