The Barrow Mayors announce a campaign to collect donations to help the Barrow County School System.
Auburn Mayor Linda Blechinger, Braselton Mayor Pat Graham, Statham Mayor Robert Bridges and Winder Mayor Chip Thompson recognized a need by the school system to supplement the teachers with certain supplies to ensure that every child has the tools they need to get the best education possible.
Superintendent of Schools Dr. Ron Saunders identified copy paper and dry erase markers as the priority supplies necessary. Pens, pencils, notebook paper and gift cards for stores that have supplies would also be appreciated.
As part of this cooperative effort with the Barrow County School System, the cities of Auburn, Braselton, Statham and Winder will have collection points at their city halls and will also be collecting at special events in their cities.
The supplies will be delivered by the cities to a central location and the school system will distribute the supplies to the individual schools and teachers.
Statham Mayor Bridges said, "Partner with us to support education. You may drop off your donations at Statham City Hall."
"Join the cities and help with school supply donations for Barrow County Schools," said Braselton Mayor Graham.
