A Gwinnett County Police Cadet was arrested on Thursday and charged with burglary while wearing his cadet uniform.

Sean Lee Filyaw, 24, of Buford, was arrested by Auburn Police after allegedly breaking into a former neighbor’s house and trying to retrieve a Playstation that he claimed belongs to him.

Filyaw entered the residence at 68 Mount Moriah Road by climbing onto the rear-porch roof and opening a second-story window.

When the owner of the home arrived, Filyaw tried to exit through the window, but was unsuccessful and instead came through the home, down the stairs and tried to flee in his Durango. That’s when police arrived and ordered Filyaw out of the vehicle for questioning.

The report states that Filyaw had no legal reason to be on the premises and after that was confirmed by the complainant, Filyaw was placed under arrest for burglary and his vehicle was impounded.

Filyaw also reportedly had several items in his truck which belonged to the Gwinnett County Police Department.

The items were collected and returned to the department and Filyaw was transported to the Barrow County Detention Center.

A warrant for burglary is set to be taken and signed today and he will be served at the Detention Center.
