Residents at Magnolia Estates in Winder are taking time to show their support for our troops by participating in Red Fridays and joining hands for a time of prayer for the nation.
Friday, some residents at the assisted living home donned red in support of American troops and had a time of prayer specifically aimed at praying for the nation and its troops who are serving in Iraq and Afghanistan.
"Our idea of showing solidarity and support for our troops with dignity and respect has begun and will continue every Friday as long as we have men and women in harms way," an explanatory flyer stated.
"The first thing a soldier says when asked ‘what can we do to make things better for you’ is "we need your support and prayers." Let’s get the word out and lead with class and dignity, by example, and wear something red every Friday."
The daily time of prayer for the nation was something suggested by the residents during a regular devotional time and the group aims to "bring these United States back to what she once was, a land devoted to ‘one nation under God.’
They plan to do this through prayer.
