Auburn’s T-Ball All-Star team’s run through the district tournament is over, but not without rewriting some recent history.
The Wildcats, who lost 14-10 to the Dacula American squad Wednesday and finished in fourth place in the district tournament, were still the first Auburn team in six years to even win a game at the All-Star level.
They nearly pushed their way into the finals Wednesday, as a two-run homer by Justin Carroll sparked a comeback from a 12-2 deficit that got them within two runs at 12-10. But Dacula scored two late insurance runs and held on for the win.
Auburn finished in fourth place in the tournament.
Head coach David Carroll said it was still a very positive run, evidenced by the five wins (spread across the pre-district and district tournaments) against four losses.
“They really played well together and they got along really well,” Carroll said.
