An Auburn man is behind bars after allegedly raping an 8-year-old child.

Adam Michael Hughes, 37, of Wynfield Lane in Auburn, was arrested on April 30 and charged with three counts of rape, 11 counts of cruelty to children in the first degree, 11 counts of child molestation, two counts of aggravated sodomy, two counts of aggravated child molestation and five counts of sexual battery.

Lt. Lee Lapsky with the Auburn Police Department said in a phone interview on Thursday that the case is still under investigation and no more information can be released at this time.

As details in the case become more solid, they will be released to the public.
