Barrow County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to Fellowship Baptist Church on Rockwell Church Road Sunday after several witnesses said a white male in a white Ford Taurus drove by and fired three rounds into the air while children were outside playing on the playground, not once, but twice.
Witnesses told authorities the man was last seen making a right-hand turn into Ashley Oaks Subdivision.
The incident report states that when officers arrived at the Ashley Oaks Subdivision, they were approached by a vehicle with two occupants that said the white Ford Taurus was located on Baskin Circle.
While in route to Baskin Circle, a white Ford Taurus drove by and officers conducted a traffic stop. Inside the vehicle was Kenneth Raymond King, 28, of Lawrenceville. Police confiscated a Taurus PT 111 Pro 9mm with one round in its chamber, which was located on the passenger seat. Reports say the weapon had an odor of discharged gun powder.
Also in the vehicle was a gun clip, a spent shell casing and a mason jar filled with a clear fluid said to be "moonshine."
King was arrested and charged with reckless conduct, firearm discharge on public highway, firearm discharge while under the influence of alcohol, open container and possession of unstamped distilled spirits.
No motive was mentioned in the report and witnesses don’t know whether King was aiming at a person or not.
Nobody reported injuries in connection with the incident.
