An anonymous call to the Auburn Police Department resulted in the arrest of two residents after police discovered counterfeit U.S. bills in a cabinet above a refrigerator.

Lebron James Smith, 26, Winder, was arrested and charged with forgery in the second degree and Jacqueline Marie Outlaw, 30, of Auburn, was arrested and charged with forgery in the second degree and maintaining a disorderly house.

Police were investigating a complaint in regards to two juveniles on April 7, who told officers they had just left Outlaw’s house. When police noticed the smell of burnt marijuana on the teens, they made contact with Outlaw. Arriving at the residence, police smelled the odor there also.

Although no marijuana was confiscated, upon further investigation police obtained verbal consent from Outlaw to search the residence and that’s when they discovered a counterfeit $100 bill and $20 bill.

Reports state that the trailer home was also in disarray with "roaches all over the place," the living room having an "extremely foul odor," trash, dirty dishes and food "all over the place."

The report also states that the three children living at the residence appeared "dirty and unkempt."

Outlaw admitted to police that she knew the bills were counterfeit and that she put them in the cabinet, but that they belonged to her boyfriend, Smith.

Smith told police he obtained the bills from a friend in Winder and tried to use them at the Old South Convenience Store, but the clerk would not accept them so Smith had Outlaw put them in the cabinet.

Both Outlaw and Smith were taken into custody and the Department of Family and Children Services was contacted and made arrangements for the children.

The two suspects were then transported to the Barrow County Detention Center.
