Nearly 30 theft-related incidents this week were reported to the Barrow County Sheriff’s Office (BSO); five arrests were made on shoplifting charges, three incidents were reported at the new Target at Barrow Crossings, and this week is not the first time.

Loss Prevention Officer Ashleigh Clark told deputies she observed a black female with a freckled face in her mid thirties, on March 21, pull a large Target shopping bag from her sweatshirt and place a car seat cover valued at $39.99 and place it in the bag.

According to Clark, the woman proceeded to place a wallet and two yo-yos in the bag and then hand the bag to a small child that was accompanying her.

Reports state that when the female was approached by Clark, she took the bag from the child, threw it in a buggy and ran out the front door.

The woman and child were seen leaving the Target store in a silver Honda Civic driven by a heavy-set black male, the first three letters of the Georgia license plate were recorded as being AAQ. The total amount of items stolen were valued at $61.

Clark told deputies that the woman had been seen stealing from the Target store prior to this incident.

On March 11 the woman entered the same store and allegedly stole $169 worth of goods, including several types of perfume, and several pieces of jewelry. On March 9 the woman left the Target location with $61 worth of earrings, bracelets and necklaces.

Clark will be turning over surveillance video of the thefts along with photos of the suspect and receipts of the items stolen, to the BSO. An investigation is underway.

Seven shoplifting incidents were reported to BSO this week, making the total number of shoplifting incidents in March nearly two dozen.

Nineteen shoplifting incidents were reported to BSO in February and nearly 50 reports of theft-by-taking or burglary incidents were reported.
