Barrow County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to Wall Road after a horse was struck by a car and wounded.

James Richard Clack was traveling south on Wall Road when he noticed a white man, later identified as Christopher Michael Jones, walking two horses on the opposite side of the road.

One of the horses stepped out into the street and although Clack tried to avoid hitting it, he was unable to and struck the horse with his car.

The horse suffered a broken leg and possibly other injuries from the accident.

Jones told deputies he wanted to put the horse down to put it out of its misery, but he didn’t have any bullets for his guns.

Jones then gave deputies permission to shoot his horse to prevent any further suffering.

A female passenger in the vehicle was transported to Athens Regional for minor injuries.
