Empire Skate Shop held yet another SkateFest event on Saturday. This time though, the effort was a collaboration of several companies and organizations all with the same goal, to raise funds to aid in the fight against breast cancer.

The event was held at Duncan Creek Skate Park in Hamilton Mill and skaters were given the chance to show off their skills in three separate events, Best Trick Rails/Stairs and Gap; Best Trick Flow-Bowl and Best Trick Clover Jam.

Contestants were divided by age groups, 15-and-under and 16-and-up.

There was also raffle winners announced throughout the four-hour event. Winners took home gift certificates to Chili’s Bar and Grill, Feddeaux, The FieldHouse, Entrees Made Easy and Ladies Fitness of Hamilton Mill.

There were also Avon baskets and other prizes from donors such as Duck Duck Goose, Monkey Joe’s, Judy Baker from Arbonne Skin Care, Nature’s Fifth Season and Interior designer A Certain Something.

Chick-fil-A was selling lunches with all proceeds going to breast cancer.

The final amount raised had not yet been disclosed at the time of publication.

All proceeds will benefit the Breast Cancer Three-Day walk benefiting Susan G. Komen for the Cure.
