An Auburn woman who was shot seven times while asleep in her bed on Nov. 15, remains in the hospital while her boyfriend, who was shot once in the abdomen, has been released.

Police were unavailable for a statement in regards to the woman’s condition as of Tuesday afternoon.

According to police reports, the 35-year-old victim was asleep in a Parks Mill Apartment with her boyfriend when they were both struck by bullets that apparently entered through the rear of the home, next to an air conditioning unit.

Both victims were transported to Gwinnett Medical Center where they underwent surgery and are expected to fully recover.

It is not known whether or not the woman has been transferred to another hospital at this time. The boyfriend has already been released according to police.

Casings from a .25 caliber pistol were discovered in back of the residence below the air conditioning unit. There were also a number of holes found where the bullets had entered the home.

The shootings occurred around 3:50 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 15 and the case is still under investigation.

No one has been charged in the shootings, but potential evidence led divers from the Hall County Sheriff’s Office to search the waters of a pond located behind Parks Mill Apartments on Tuesday, according to Auburn Police Chief Fred Brown.

The divers will be assisting Auburn Police in the ongoing investigation into the Nov. 15 shooting.

"There are not enough hard facts right now to identify anyone as a suspect. We are asking the public for help," Brown said.

If anyone has any information in regards to the case or heard or saw anything out of the ordinary on the night of Nov. 15, they are being asked to contact the Auburn Police Department at (770) 963-4002.
